About ArtCritic

ArtCritic is an online contemporary art journal that fosters a critical, nuanced, and rigorous perspective since 1999 on artworks, their creators, and the institutions and structures that support them—galleries, art centers, museums, as well as independent organizations, fairs, and collective initiatives. Our mission is to help readers grasp the complexity of the art ecosystem while elevating critique to a level where it interrogates the artwork, its institutional context, and the social, economic, and political issues it embodies.

Through our approach, we reexamine aesthetic and philosophical concepts inherited from tradition, confront them with contemporary practices, and thus open new pathways for analyzing, interpreting, and understanding artists and their propositions.

ArtCritic is dedicated to offering a dynamic, rich, and stimulating critical experience that reflects the vitality of the art scene it explores. Under the editorial direction of Hervé Lancelin (@hervelancelin), and supported by a team of writers and archivists, the journal is committed to continually renewing the dialogue between creation, thought, and the world.
